Attention all dancers!


Bare Bait Dance is auditioning for its 15th season in Missoula, Montana.

Producing 5+ season dance events per season, BBD is Montana's only full-season professional contemporary dance company. Company Members not only perform, but also have the opportunity to choreograph, teach, and tour. The company focuses on a contemporary modern dance aesthetic with the integration of physical theater, dance theater, and interdisciplinary performance.

We are looking for dancers to join us for our upcoming production season with performance opportunities August 2025 - April 2026.

Bare Bait Dance aims to reflect the diversity in our region and the field of contemporary dance on a whole.

We encourage BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Two-spirit, & Gender diverse dancers to audition.

Looking for dancers with

  • strong skills in contemporary dance techniques

  • improvisation

  • dance theater

  • relevant stage experience

  • willingness to be involved in the choreographic process

  • interest in collaborating with both local and regional dancers and choreographers

  • interest in the collective spirit of a professional company - (company members expected to support ticket sales, sponsor relations, etc.

TIMELINE

Wednesday, April 30 | 11:59pm: deadline to complete registration form

Thursday, May 1st | 6-9pm | audition
>> studio will be open at 5:30pm to allow for participants to warm up

On or before Tuesday, June 3rd: All auditionees will be notified

Company Positions Include

+ Full Company Member position, available for all of the production season and M/Th/F weekly rehearsals

+ Guest Performers hired on a show-to-show basis depending on casting need

+ Apprentices are generally high school or recent high school graduates and are included in 2-3 season productions and rehearse M/Th

+ University of Montana Performance Interns are current UM students (undergraduate or grad) who perform with BBD on a show-by-show basis depending on schedule availability and casting need
