Medusa and her sisters: exiled by myth, alive with possibility.
Bare Bait Dance was a mere twinkle in Director Joy French’s eye in 2011 when she originally created Crack & Yoke through an artist-in-residence program at Missoula’s Downtown Dance Collective. As her first evening-length choreographic endeavor, Joy dove into rediscovering Greek Mythology’s misunderstood anti-hero: Medusa. Crack and Yoke became a contemporary recontextualization of the Gorgon Sisters’ rise and fall, complete with glitter-filled egg-races, lingerie tethers, and wedding-dress torrents.
It was the show that inspired Joy to create Bare Bait Dance! Now - sixteen years later - she’s bringing it back to life with a bigger cast, budget, and all the bells and whistles you’ve come to love from a BBD production!
