about the show
Come for the films, stay for the popcorn! Our 13th annual International Screendance Film Festival now explodes onto the Westside stage with live, interdisciplinary performances created by Colorado-based multimedia and dance artist Jeanine McCain and featuring Bare Bait Dance company & guests.
The screenings will feature ten dance films from around the world in the hopes of highlighting the talent, artistry, and collaboration of filmmakers and dancers both within and beyond our beautiful state.
The benefit of presenting Kinetoscope at the Westside Theater is, of course — our STAGE! Throughout KFF13 films, dance and film will literally come to life through the artistic vision of guest artist, Jeanine McCain, and her brand-new collaboration with the Bare Bait Dance company dancers.
There’s truly something for all dance and film lovers in this year’s Kinetoscope!
about the festival
We are celebrating 13 years of Kinetoscope: International Screendance Film Festival as Montana’s premiere dance film festival!
Created in 2013, the festival consistently presents the best of screendance from around the world. Kinetoscope started as a screening partner with Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema (Boulder, CO). Throughout past festivals, we have screened hundreds of international dance films for Montana’s vastly underserved dance audiences. The festival is presented and curated by Montana’s only full-season professional dance company, Bare Bait Dance.
Our primary intent is to screen films that exemplify the most exciting and innovative video and dance collaborations from around the world. We celebrate the diversity in the screendance field and are open to films with a variety of styles, themes, and approaches.

about the guest artist
Jeanine McCain is an interdisciplinary movement artist, educator, and improviser based in Colorado. Her work strives to explore the question, “How can the integration of dance and technology serve to deepen an expression of the human experience rather than separate us from it?” Her multi-media works and collaborations have been performed at Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema, Boulder Experiments in Art and Technology (B.E.A.T.), University of Northern Colorado, the World Dance Alliance-Americas Assembly at University of Texas El Paso, Sans Limites Movement Festival in NYC and the Philadelphia Fringe Arts Festival. She served as Associate Professor of Dance at Ursinus College and has been on the faculty for Moving Arts Lab at Earthdance and the Imagine Festival co-sponsored by Dance Films Association. Jeanine’s artistic process remains inspired by the mountains and wide-open spaces of the places she calls home. She holds an Master in Fine Arts in dance performance and choreography from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Theatre from the University of Montana.
