It’s like any formal, performing arts audition, however we do not make any “cuts”! All interested movers and dancers who want to be part of the show are welcome!
Our goal during the casting call is to get to know you a bit better as a mover.
After the Casting Call, the 40 OVER 40 producers and choreographers will come together to find the BEST opportunities for you to shine on the Westside Stage.
-
Nope! Just be prepared to move! We recommend dance-able clothing (style is up to you).
Joy French (Bare Bait Dance Director) will lead you through an abbreviated warm-up and then teach a short phrase so we can get a feel for the type of mover/dancer you are.
-
From the information you provide us on the Casting Form and us seeing you at the Casting Call, producers and choreographers will convene to find the piece (or pieces!) that best serve your goals, schedule, and interests.
-
We’ll be announcing those names soon! Can’t wait to share the exciting news!
-
Absolutely! Please tell us this on the Casting Form and we’ll do our absolute best to match your interests with the right 40 OVER 40 performance opportunities.
If we have any questions during the casting period, we’ll be in touch.

Yes. The participant fees go directly to paying the 40 OVER 40 choreographers and designers, and to cover the cost of performance costumes (which you get to keep at the end of the production!).
There are two options for participants:
$250 = rehearsing and performing in 1 40 OVER 40 piece
$350 = rehearsing and performing in 2 40 OVER 40 pieces
Think of it like a multi-month workshop where you get to collaborate and immerse yourself in the beauty and pleasure of choreography and movement. Learning something new, brushing up on former skills, showing your talents… all while meeting other like-minded dance-enthusiasts! -
If this fee is a barrier for your involvement in 40 OVER 40, please reach out to us directly to discuss other options: info@thewestsidetheater.com

Each 40 OVER 40 dance piece will rehearse with their choreographer one time per week.
We found that some casts may like to meet more than once a week to review and brush up on choreography but it is not required!
Rehearsals will begin the first week of January (subject to choreographer needs).
